Have Limited Farming Skills but Serious about Farming in the USA?

Have no or limited farming skills?
Recently out of school, or never worked on a farm (or when you were small), but know farming is in your blood and are serious about the opportunity…
It is not impossible to gain the skill and experience to be chosen by a USA farmer to work on his farm.
But please realise, this is a journey, and not a one time event. You will have to get the skills, and also experience (hours on a vehicle in the field) to “position yourself” to stand out amongst the crowd..
Have "special" skills that a farmer can use on the farm?
These are “supporting” skillsets that a farmer can use on his farm. For example: electrical experience / electrician, mechanical experience / mechanic, earth moving experience, handyman, truck driving etc.
This gives you a better chance, but the farmer needs someone to do farm work and know how to operate the vehicles and know the fundamentals of farm work.
What are your options?
- If you are very young, consider joining a institution that give you a year long experience, similar to a gap year. Talk to us. We can point provide you contact details
- Find a local farmer that is willing to give you an opportunity..
- Join one of our practical training programs. We find farmers that have a heart for training and giving people such as yourself a chance… If you are serious.. The option is available to work with the farmer afterwards to get experience (hours) on vehicle. Limited space available. Please talk to us..
